PDG is currently in the planning and design stages of an exciting new project in Southbank. 132 Kavanagh Street will be a vertical village with a green front door – informed by a contemporary approach to placemaking and community.
Selected by the City of Melbourne to develop this noteworthy project, the vision is to express the spirit of Southbank through the built environment.
The development will be a collection of cohesive stacked forms including residential apartments, a hotel, commercial spaces and affordable housing.
Vibrant green surrounds will echo nearby parks, gardens and planned renewal projects while promoting a neighbourly atmosphere.
While the development will capture a modern feel, some of the architecture has been inspired by the adjacent heritage building housing the Boyd Community Hub.
The Boyd Community Hub resides in an old brick school building constructed between 1884 and 1885. Tudor Revival architecture showcases historic Melbourne – and now provides Southbank with a library and café as well as a range of community and family services.
132 Kavanagh Street will be an intersection of all that makes up Southbank’s unique urban fabric.
