PDG is excited to announce that the Munro Development has been recognised by The Urban Developer Awards, with the precinct among this year’s finalists for the 2024 Awards for Industry Excellence – Mixed-Use category. Congratulations are in order for all the teams involved in Stages 1 & 2 of the project, including Six Degrees, Bates Smart, Hamilton Marino, Mirvac, and the City of Melbourne. Their collective efforts, alongside the PDG project team, have brought this development to life.
This development was a cornerstone of the Queen Victoria Market Precinct Renewal masterplan, encompassing over 140,000sqm GFA. It stands as a testament to the power of effective collaboration, community engagement, and sustainable design principles. The site features 49 affordable housing dwellings, a 500-space underground car park, 490 Build to Rent residences, a 110-room hotel, 2,000m2 of ground floor retail space, and the City of Melbourne’s largest new community hub and library, narrm ngarggu.
This year’s Urban Developer Award winners will be announced at a black-tie gala on 31st July at The Star, Gold Coast. PDG looks forward to celebrating and reflecting on the industry’s achievements.
Additionally, the Munro Development has been a beacon of progress over the past month, with new tenants Mansae Korean BBQ and Operator San joining the Stage 2 retailers and the precinct receiving overall positive feedback. One guest in particular had a memorable experience during their stay at Veriu Hotel (QVM), taking the opportunity to explore the vibrant retail scene and indulge in the culinary delights on offer.
Both Romanello and Operator San also garnered attention from Broadsheet. Romanello is known for its pizza a taglio offerings, with the menu’s variety a direct reflection of the fresh produce available at the Queen Vic Market – which owner Damian Mammone affectionately refers to as the shop’s “backyard.” This connection to local resources not only supports the community but also ensures a unique dining experience with each visit.
While Operator San, located directly across the road from the Queen Vic Market, provides a much needed change of pace from the hustle and bustle of the market’s foot traffic, with renowned Chef Anto Zhang serving up Japanese breakfast and Melbourne brunch culture in one.
