Elizabeth North Raises the Bar for Biomedical Innovation in Australia: Completion Nearing

Excitement is building around the upcoming completion of the Elizabeth North precinct with final touches underway for Stage 2 of the development.

Situated in the Northern gateway of the city, Elizabeth North represents a convergence of science, technology, research, health and innovation in a unified development that defies expectations of accessibility and contemporary design, complementing the strategic vision of Melbourne’s world-renowned Biomedical Precinct.

Led by PDG’s Project Director, Alex Paterson, the journey toward completion has been one of determination and dedication:

“The impending completion of Stage 2 of Elizabeth North is the culmination of a three-and-a-half-year construction programme from the commencement of demolition of the historic Melford Motors site in July 2019.”

“The successful delivery of Elizabeth North is a testament to the genuine, unwavering collaboration between our development team and our partners in CSL, Royal Melbourne Hospital, Melbourne City Toyota and Woolworths Metro.”

In March, CSL Limited will move into the 18-storey flagship building, which features state-of-the-art offices and world-class biomedical laboratories. This facility will enable globally recognised clinical research, development, and innovation by CSL and its partners, right here in Melbourne.

The completed project will also contribute to the immediate precinct with a dynamic ground level presence characterised by the central laneway that will be lined by retail and food & beverage offerings together with the “town square” gathering point on Elizabeth Street.

Stage 1 of Elizabeth North, which was completed in late 2021, is now home to The Royal Melbourne Hospital with outpatient services including dialysis and consulting suites together with hospital administration soon to occupy Levels 3 to 8. In addition, 635 Elizabeth Street remains home to Melbourne City Toyota’s flagship Dealership, along with extensive retail offerings including Woolworths Metro, BWS and Lobby Café.

The presence of significant tenants such as CSL and the Royal Melbourne Hospital underscores Elizabeth North’s reputation as a hub for innovation, providing healthcare staff and patients with an unparalleled experience.
