At PDG, 2023 has been a year of embracing new opportunities and achieving pivotal milestones across key projects. From the groundbreaking ceremony at Boyd Village to the commencement of settlement at Gadsden, this year has been marked by significant progress and noteworthy accomplishments. Let’s delve into the highlights from the past year.
In February, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Build to Rent development Boyd Village, signalled a momentous start to the year. PDG is partnering with Investa and Oxford Properties to deliver 434 Build to Rent apartments, inclusive of 40 affordable rental dwellings earmarked for key workers, for Investa’s BTR platform Indi. Indi will retain the tower and podium, except for part of the Ground Floor and Level 1 Council Facilities which will be owned and managed by the City of Melbourne. Construction has made significant progress since its commencement and is expected to be completed in 2025.
ELIZABETH NORTH STAGE 2
The wider Elizabeth North precinct witnessed significant milestones this year, including the official opening of CSL’s new Global Headquarters and Centre for Research and Development. The 18-storey, 54,000sqm building will enhance CSL’s collaborative potential with external partners, providing access to optimal resources to strengthen development initiatives and harness technological advancements. PDG’s Founder & Managing Director, Vince Giuliano said, ‘Elizabeth North represents PDG’s enduring dedication and commitment to deliver world-class biomedical research facilities and exemplar contemporary workspaces that will contribute significantly to innovative progress in the City of Melbourne.’
ELIZABETH NORTH STAGE 1
At 635 Elizabeth Street, the Royal Melbourne Hospital unveiled its state-of-the-art corporate and outpatient care services in August. PDG collaborated with various stakeholders including builder Roberts Co to deliver this 30,000sqm mixed-use project. With its world-class facilities and prime location, the RMH’s Elizabeth Street campus will expand upon Melbourne’s renowned Biomedical Precinct, offering an environment that is conducive to healing and recovery.
GADSDEN, WEST MELBOURNE
Gadsden offers residents a lifestyle that perfectly balances community ambience and rich local culture in the heart of West Melbourne. The apartments commenced settlement in September with townhouses expected to settle within the coming months. Despite facing numerous challenges, PDG has worked tirelessly to maintain the highest standards of quality, ensuring that every detail of Gadsden reflects our dedication to delivering a superior outcome.
QVM MUNRO STAGE 2
The QVM Munro development, an expansion of the iconic Queen Victoria Market precinct, has continued to flourish this year. Stage 2 witnessed full occupancy in its retail spaces, hosting F&B operators Romanello Italian Cafe, Lovey Patisserie, and French artisan bakery Publique Bakery, with the addition of Asian-inspired dining Operator San, Kombu, and Mansae Korean BBQ. Paying respect to the rich history of one of Australia’s most recognisable retail precincts, QVM Munro will ensure the continued success of this iconic market for generations to come.
QVM MUNRO STAGE 1
The City of Melbourne’s new library and community hub, known as narrm ngarrgu, opened its doors to the public in November. PDG delivered the hub to the City of Melbourne upon the completion of construction in September 2021. PDG is looking forward to the positive impact this hub will have on the community, fostering a sense of unity and collaboration that will continue to thrive in the years to come. While the 48 affordable residences integrated into the space offer an elevated standard of living, complementing the diverse living experiences across Stage 2’s 490 BTR apartments.
