New Build To Rent Project Roden & King Approved

19 Jan 2024

The recent endorsement from the City of Melbourne’s Future Melbourne Committee marks a significant milestone for PDG and Zagame Group’s new Build to Rent project situated at 559-577 King Street, West Melbourne.

Designed by DKO Architects, the new Roden & King site will include mixed-use commercial spaces and apartments across three buildings spanning 6-10 storeys each. DKO was inspired to create a collection of buildings that surrounded a central green space, offering new and existing residents a place to connect.

Central to the development’s blueprint is a publicly accessible pedestrian link bridging Roden and Stanley streets. With a commitment to social responsibility, 6% of the 287 apartments are earmarked for affordable housing. The project will consist of 37 studio apartments, 135 one-bedroom, 109 two-bedroom, and 6 three-bedroom residences, catering to varied preferences and household needs.

Each building within the development will encapsulate distinct characteristics. The Stanley Street building serves as the development’s gateway, housing essential facilities such as the main lobby, communal amenities, and concierge services. Meanwhile, the Roden Street building will pay homage to the intricate Victorian terraces through angled structures and recessed top levels. The King Street apartments boast a distinct zig-zag façade, offering breathtaking CBD views from balconies.

Emphasis is placed on sustainable transport options, exemplified through generous bike storage, end-of-trip facilities, EV chargers, and an in-house carshare facility for residents.

The site offers a prime inner city opportunity minutes from the CBD and Melbourne’s foremost biomedical and education precinct, coupled with easy access to various amenities and public transport – positioning Roden & King as an attractive prospect for residents.

Building upon the success of our recent residential project, Gadsden, less than a 10-minute walk from the new Roden Street site, Roden & King will harness the growing appeal of West Melbourne, offering an exceptional lifestyle complemented by unparalleled urban accessibility.
